San Francisco: Cueto
Arizona Diamondbacks -117
O/U 8 runs
After closing out their seven game home stand on Wednesday evening, a stretch in which they only won 2 of the 7 games, the Giants will hit the road starting with a four game series in Arizona with the Diamondbacks.
Arizona is closing out a road trip of their own where they’ve currently won 5 of 8, including the last 5 games in a row. They’ll go for their second series sweep in a row Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies.
Both teams’ pitching has been very solid lately, despite the 2-5 mark posted by the Giants in their last 7. Their problem has been inconsistent hitting during this recent home stand, but they’ve only allowed more than 3 runs twice in their last 5 games.
That’s not to say that Arizona’s bats have been heating it up; they’ve only scored more than 5 runs twice in their last 5 games, but consistent output combined with solid pitching has helped them on their way to their current 5 game winning streak.
Thursday evening the Giants will send right hander Johnny Cueto to the mound who enters the game with a 4-1 record, a 3.02 ERA, and a 1.125 WHIP. He’ll face-off against the Diamondbacks’ Zack Greinke who’s 3-2 on the year with a 5.15 ERA and a 1.443 WHIP.
Both teams currently hold a 17-18 record and are both tied for second place in the National League West behind the LA Dodgers as they enter the four game series. San Francisco is 4-0 this season against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and will look to push that mark to 5-0 this Thursday, but in order to do so, they’ll need their bats to wake up against a solid pitcher in Greinke.
